About Us

Coming from families that have been in the timber industry for nearly a 100 years and the mutual love and deep respect that both share for woods’ natural and abundant benefits led to the genesis of “CLT Greece”.

Konstantinos Karabelas

Konstantinos Karampelas

Continuing a Legacy of Leadership in the Timber Industry

Konstantinos Karampelas represents the third generation of a historic family business, continuing a journey that began nearly a century ago. His involvement in the industry was not just a continuation of family tradition but a conscious decision to invest in sustainable development and the evolution of timber construction in Greece.

His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Marketing/Marketing Management from The American College of Greece, reinforcing his strategic thinking with strong business foundations.

The Karampelas family has been active in the timber industry since 1929, when Nikolaos D. Karampelas founded a furniture and joinery workshop in Preveza. In 1957, Dimitrios N. Karampelas expanded the business, establishing "Dimitrios N. Karampelas S.A.," a timber trading company. By 1980, the company evolved into "Afoi Karampela A.B.E.E.," acquiring modern infrastructure and securing its position as one of Greece’s most reliable timber suppliers.

With a keen vision and a passion for wood, Konstantinos has not relied solely on the company’s long-standing tradition. Instead, he continuously invests in innovation, merging past expertise with contemporary advancements. He firmly believes in sustainable development and the immense potential of timber as the material of the future.

Iliana Kostaki

Iliana Kostaki

Co-founder of CLT Greece

Iliana Kostaki is the co-founder of CLT Greece and an active member of the family-owned business G. Kostakis S.A., one of the most established and reputable timber companies in Greece, headquartered in Argolida. Since 1980, the company has been engaged in the trading and processing of all types of wood, maintaining a long-standing presence in the industry with a consistent investment strategy in raw materials and infrastructure.

She is also a founding member and shareholder of Argotechniki A.T.E., a construction company that combines expertise in timber with hands-on experience in demanding building projects.

Iliana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia, an MSc from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and an MBA from the University of Ioannina.

Raised within the family business, she developed an early and deep understanding of wood and its applications. She has extensive experience in the import of high-quality timber products from Northern and Central Europe, as well as from Africa, supplying premium tropical hardwoods.

Her professional path is defined by a passion for sustainable timber, entrepreneurial vision, and a continuous pursuit of innovation in the field of modern timber construction.

The Birth of CLT Greece

Coming from families with nearly a century of presence in the timber industry and sharing a common commitment to the numerous natural benefits of wood, the founders of CLT Greece envisioned introducing an innovative construction technology to the Greek market.

CLT Greece was established to bring Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) to the forefront in Greece—a material that has already gained international dominance. In countries where wooden construction is a cornerstone of the building industry, CLT has been recognized as a pioneering, sustainable, and highly durable solution. However, in Greece, it remained largely unknown or misunderstood.

With profound knowledge of timber, the founders of CLT Greece recognized that the absence of this technology in Greece was not just a business gap but an untapped opportunity. It was a solution that needed to be introduced to the construction sector, offering new and reliable alternatives beyond conventional materials.

Twenty years ago, through collaborations with suppliers in Northern and Central Europe, they discovered CLT before it became a globally established material. They didn’t just observe—they experienced it firsthand. They worked with pioneering companies, studied production processes, witnessed projects come to life, and lived in CLT buildings, understanding its real value: rapid construction, fewer labor requirements, natural feel, thermal comfort, durability, and sustainability.

The conclusion was clear: who better to introduce and establish CLT in Greece than individuals who know, believe in, and continuously develop it? Thus, CLT Greece was born—not just as a company but as a mission. Its goal is to make CLT known, accessible, and dominant in the Greek market, bringing this transformative construction material of the future into Greece’s present.

The smell and sound, the feeling of the wood stay in our worlds since we are born

CLT Greece was launched as a separate entity with the mission to advance the adoption of mass timber constructions along with respect to our environment.
